Iya Omiseun

Iya Ifabunkunmi Omiseun Ponmile Fayemi Akanbi omo Beulah, is a mother, educator and Priest of Ifa and Yemoja, having been initiated in Abeokuta, Nigeria in 2020. For nearly three decades, she has been a tireless advocate for children, challenging her passion as a college professor, trainer and community activist.  Omiseun is a mother, Reiki Master, and organizer, with over 29 years of teaching experience. She graduated from Pacific Oaks College Northwest with a Master's in Human Development and a Teaching Certificate with Endorsements in areas such as: P-3 Early Childhood Education (ECE) and 4-12 History.  In the fall of 2024, she returned to school to pursue her Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education (ACE), with a secondary focus in ECE. 

 

Professionally, Omiseun works in the ECE field, currently teaching education classes at a local college for the past 19 years, she is a HighScope Certified Trainer, and for the past 15 years, has worked as an instructional coach with preschool teachers focused on ways to implement best practices.  Omiseun served as the past President of Seattle Black Child Development Institute (BCDI), and her ongoing volunteer work focuses on centering social justice around Black children and working towards ending systemic racism by advocating for policy changes that improve the lives of Black children. She is an educational consultant and published author, owning her own LLC called Pearls of Wisdom (https://pearlsofwisdomllc.org/) and writing a chapter titled "Learning to Love Myself” in the book The Art of Sacred Writing: Exploration Based Approaches to Transform and Heal Your Emotions, Beliefs, and Experiences (The Sacred Series).  She is the proud mother of Quentin, who goes by the Ifa name of Ifa Dahunce, and she is excited to be a part of Ifa for Kids!
